H is for Hiranya

There are a handful of songs in this awesome A to Z line up which I loved instantly, and am still loving. This is one of them. Lost is from newbie metalcore band Hiranya. They launched in 2015 in the Spanish capital, Madrid.

Sara is the vocalist, and what a voice: a wicked growl and clean vocals. Backed by Johnny W and Dani on guitars, Jio on bass and Carlos on drums, this brand of metal is right up my alley.

Very little info available on these guys, but I reckon they are very good, so don;t be surprised if we hear a lot more from them. I leave you with this: hiranya is a sanskrit word which means 'golden.'

  1. Love a girl with great pipes. There's a house band here with a Colombian bass player, who loves to just the strings with her thumb like Les Claypool from Primus. Might be my favorite thing in Dubai.

  2. Great pipes...that's a good expression. I just reckon it's really cleaver to be able to sing sweet melody, and then let rip the growl. There are other female growlers around, but most of them are plain scary.

  3. I do like a growly voice, and I love her expression! Off to search out their mucic.

    Another day in Amble Bay!

    1. Have a chat to whoever handles the booking s at Amble Bay hall, and get them to come and play. Arthur would love it. He'd have no trouble hearing them.

  4. First, what a great concept pairing for the A to Z challenge. I'll admit, I don't listen to much metal. However, I'm going to totally check this band out. (I've been known to have very eclectic taste in music.) Also, I lived abroad in Madrid, Spain many years ago. It'll be interesting to see their take on this genre of music. Thanks for the suggestion!

    1. I'm back. In a word: WOW! My favorite song was "Shoeless." I can't believe those two voices come out of the same person! Wow! I'm adding this group to my current novel WIP soundtrack...for inspiration while writing my next fight/action scene.

    2. Wow is a good word. If you just heard the growling, you would never pick it. My WIP soundtrack is mostly metal...fight scene, love scene, any scene really. Metal works for me. If you need a beta reader for your manuscript, I'd be happy yo help out. I haven't read a good werewolf novel since Full Moon Island nearly 18 months ago, I reckon. I'mg lad you liked Hiranya. Thanks for visiting Square Pegs and for taking the time to comment.

    1. It's been a great adventure for me too. Thanks to Eluveitie, for example, I can now handle folk metal, more than handle, in their case. I like them. It also pleases me greatly to know there are serious headbangers all over the world.
